In case you are not fan of social media (and many of our members share your sentiment), a majority of our updates concerning upcoming tournaments, new accounts, or general posts concerning officiating will be copied here within a few hours of their original posting on our Facebook page.  

 

We still encourage you to "Like" and "Follow" our Facebook page to get these posts as soon as they come in and to participate in the many excellent discussions we share with other members and referees nationwide.  We also have a YouTube channel in development and our founder, Chris Balasinski, maintains a Instagram account that is not solely about officiating, but offers a glimpse into the private life of our busy assignor. 

YMTC: Block/Charge/No Call

Sam Subby of YouTube routinely posts excellent high definition clips of basketball plays from all over FIBA. You'll also find them posted on the Basketball Referee Society with open-ended questions for you to give your opinion. It often seems like that page makes its living from Sam Subby's content and makes me wonder if they are managed by the same person.  🤔

 

Personally I see this play as a no-call. The defender oversold what I believed was marginal contact that didn't really have an impact on the rest of the play. 

 

Look at the reaction of the red coach: laying off the officials and continuing to instruct. Great respect for the call and the game.
